The Republic of Belarus, as is the case in the majority of countries in the world, has its own laws and prohibitions, clear and unclear, and if the majority of the local population is aware of what can and cannot be done, foreigners can accidentally fall into undesirable situations, which can it turns into a criminal case.

  1. Citizens of Qatar, holders of ordinary passports, are allowed to stay on the territory of the Republic of Belarus without visa for 30 days. In case of staying in a hotel, the hotel administration automatically registers the visitor with the competent authorities (within 3 days), and in case of staying in apartments or other places, the visitor must register with the competent authorities (within 10 days).
  2. Declare an amount of more than $10,000 (in any currency equivalent) when crossing the border with the Republic of Belarus when leaving and entering the country.
  3. Belarus has legislated a ban on the distribution of extremist materials and materials for the rehabilitation of Nazism, on propaganda or public demonstration, the production and distribution of Nazi symbols or paraphernalia (including calls to seize power unconstitutionally, incitement to racial, national and religious hatred and propaganda of superiority or inferiority of citizens on the same grounds – race, religion, nationality, language. The distribution of pornography, information about terrorism and drug distribution, as well as the dissemination of information promoting suicide, LGBT propaganda is prohibited.
  4. The list of extremist materials is regularly updated, so it is worth studying it from time to time to be aware of changes (a list of current prohibited materials can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus).
  5. There are a number of places in Belarus where you shouldn't take photos or shoot videos while you're there. In particular, it is forbidden to photograph sensitive places that have been approved by the Government of the Republic. Among these places are major pipelines, airports, subways and some buildings. Even a selfie in these places can cause you a problem. Border photography is also prohibited.
  6. The entry of firearms, military equipment, drugs, poisons, radioactive and explosive materials into the Republic of Belarus is strictly prohibited. The state also has a list of drugs, psychotropic substances and narcotics, which are subject to special control at the borders and must be disclosed. At the same time, a medical prescription and an extract from the hospital health card must be present in Russian or Belarusian languages.
  7. It is not allowed to take out artwork from Belarus as souvenirs. In order to understand whether the acquired artwork can be exported, you need to contact the Art Experts Sector of the Ministry of Culture.
  8. Foreigners coming to the Republic of Belarus for the purpose of relaxing in nature – and practicing hunting and fishing – are obliged to know that in the Republic of Belarus during certain periods a ban is imposed on hunting animals and fish.
  9. In the Republic of Belarus, the use of “spying” equipment is prohibited. It includes technical means, equipment, hardware, software products and other products that are specially created, developed, programmed or updated to secretly obtain information in the context of tracking and research activities.
  10. Citizens of the State of Qatar are allowed to drive a car on the territory of the Republic of Belarus after a certified translation of the driving license into the official language (Russian or Belarusian). You must also adhere to the rules of the road, especially not standing on the sidewalk, driving in the lane designated for public transportation, or driving in the yellow line of road signs. In Minsk, such cars can be transferred to the parking lot. Citizens themselves often film these violations on their phones and send them to a special channel of the Metropolitan Police. Priority must also be given to pedestrians at designated crossings.
  11. If you are planning to travel to the Republic of Belarus with your children, know that it is prohibited for minors under the age of 18 to be on the street without the company of their guardians after 23:00.
